VERMILION WEDDING – DAWN + RICK

Oh, wedding season is upon us friends. And I couldn’t be more thrilled that Dawn & Rick started the season for me! After taking “off” last year of weddings to spend that time with my sweet boy, I was so glad to be back into the thick of wedding season again and photographing what I love.

Dawn & Rick’s wedding day was just a town over from where I live. As my mama & I drove into Vermilion, the town was quiet. There had been rain coming down slowly on & off. Women were sitting outside a yarn shoppe, knitting away. And as we drove to the outskirts of town and got closer to the one of many bed & breakfasts that was filled from guests for their wedding, the town started to get a little bit louder & there was a buzz in the air. A wedding buzz if you will.

I drive past Rick as he was sitting outside on the porch of the B&B he was getting ready at, chatting with family & friends. I pull into the lakeside cabins where Dawn & their friends & family were all staying to celebrate all weekend this beautiful celebration. The lake was calm & the skies had cleared. What a sigh of relief!

During their engagement session, Dawn & Rick told the story about the special meaning of the church where they would soon wed. It was a story that gave you chills because you just knew that their paths were meant to cross.

Dawn’s son, Murph walked her down the aisle to her groom. Her daughter, Hannah, stood by her side as Maid of Honor. Rick’s sisters had many tears seeing their brother shed some joyful tears seeing his bride for the first time. But there was not a dry eye in that church as Dawn & Rick shared their vows for one another. I turned to my mom after the finished with tears in my eyes to find her with some as well. It was one of the most heart felt ceremonies I have witnessed.

Dawn & Rick, it was an absolute pleasure to photograph this new season in both of your lives. You both are so wonderful and I loved spending the day with you both. Wishing you many more years of happiness, laughter together & lots of love!

I love the story behind this little charm & hankercheif; Rick is a Santa! You may just come across him sometime this winter! 🙂
